The Northern Ontario Open will mark the return of high level competitive bowling to Thunder Bay. Keeping with the tradition of Mario Martinuzzi Memorial, qualifying will consist 20+ games over two days to ensure that the best bowlers are in fact the ones to make the cut. Rules:

1. This Tournament is CTF sanctioned; Non CTF Members must purchased a Full CTF membership ($30) or pay a participation fee ($5).
2. Saturday: Entries close 2:00PM Practice: 2:45PM Scoring starts: 3:00 PM
3. Sunday: Check in: 9:30 AM Practice 9:45 Scoring: 10:00
4. The Tournament will be conducted in a single open division.
5. Entry Fee is: $150 (CDN) - $40 Lineage – $108 Prize Fund - $2 Expenses

6. Format:

   • Day 1 - 10 Games Qualifying.
   • Day 2 –Match play, day 1 scores do NOT carry over
   • Match Play – Total Pinfall plus 20 bonus pins ( 10 for a tie)

Day 2 Cut:

Less than 48 entries:

• Cut to top 12
• 12 Games of match play
• Game 12 will be a position round

48 or more entries

• Cut will be to top 24
• Bowlers Will be randomly divided into 2 divisions
• 11 games of match play,
• Game 12 being a position round between all 24 bowlers.

Step Ladder Finals

• At the completion of match play, the top 5 bowlers will be seeded into a step ladder Finals
• Top 5 bowlers (Pin fall + bonus pins) will then advance to a step ladder final.
• Higher Seed receives choice of lane.
• Stepladder matches: 1 game, Ties will be broken by rolling off the 9th and 10th frame

Side Pots / Brackets

The Following Optional Side pots will be available (Day 1):

• Individual High Game ($5 per game)
  • Top 2 spots Paid ($4 1st and $1 2nd)
• 3 Game Blocks ($5 Per Block)
  • Top 2 spots Paid ($4 1st and $1 2nd)
• MegaBlock (5 Games - $10 Per Block)
  • Top 2 Spot Paid ($7 1st and $3 2nd)
• Brackets (8 Person Brackets – $5 Bracket)
  • Games: 1-3 4-6 7-9 ($3 1st and $2 2nd)
• SuperBrackets (16 person brackets Games: 2 – 5, 7-10, $10)
